Guwahati, Sept 29: There has been recent speculation and rumors regarding a fee hike in the payment structure for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA). However, the Assam Education Department has clarified that there is no truth to these rumors, and there will be no fee hike for the upcoming HSLC examination.

Education Minister Ranoj Pegu made an official statement to address the issue, stating, “There is no hike in the examination fee of HSLC examination under SEBA.” He further emphasized that the fee structure for the HSLC examination will remain the same as it was in the previous year.

For the HSLC examination, the fee structure will be as follows:

  • Total Fee: ₹1200
  • SEBA Fee: ₹700
  • Centre Fee: ₹350
  • Practical Exam Fee: ₹150

It is important to note that students falling below the poverty line (BPL) will be exempted from paying the examination fee, ensuring that all eligible students have the opportunity to appear for the examination without financial barriers.

Minister Ranoj Pegu also addressed the misinformation that had been circulating in certain sections of the media, describing it as “false and baseless.” The clarification from the Assam Education Department aims to reassure students and parents that there will be no changes in the examination fee structure for the upcoming HSLC examination under SEBA.

This announcement will come as a relief to students and their families, as it ensures that the cost of appearing for the HSLC examination remains unchanged, making it more accessible to a wide range of students across Assam.
