Assam Rifles Commanding Officer and family killed in an ambush in Manipur

Manipur, Nov 13: In a major suspected valley ambush, the Assam Rifles Commanding Officer and his family were killed in a militant attack in Suraj Chand district in Manipur near S Sehken village, Singngat subdivision at around 10 am, a source said.

Col Viplav Tripathi (CO-46 AR), her wife, and his son died on the spot and the other injured were shifted to Behiang Primary Health Centre.

Meanwhile, three QRT team members died too in the attack. Reportedly, the militants attacked a convoy carrying the security personnel.

According to an Army source, Family members of the officer along with the quick reaction team were in the convoy. More casualties feared. Operations are still going on. Further details awaited.
