Ayodhya, Jan 17: The Sikh community in Ayodhya is gearing up for a three-day ‘Akhand Path’ at Gurdwara Brahm Kund Sahib from January 19 to January 21, preceding the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ (consecration) of the Ram Temple.

According to BJP national spokesperson RP Singh, Sikhs from various regions will participate in the ‘Akhand Path’ to ensure the smooth conduct of the ‘Pran Pratishtha.’

The historical ties between Sikhs, Lord Ram, and Ayodhya were emphasized by Singh, citing Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s visit to the Ram temple in 1510 and Nihangs’ activities inside the temple in 1858.

The ‘Akhand Path,’ a fundamental Sikh ritual, involves continuous recitation of the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy Sikh scripture, lasting over 48 hours.

The ceremony is conducted without interruption by a team of readers.

RP Singh highlighted that similar programs and ‘Akhand Path’ events were organized before the Supreme Court’s landmark verdict on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid case in 2019.

The upcoming ‘Akhand Path’ for ‘Pran Pratishtha’ underscores the significance of the word ‘Ram’ mentioned 2,533 times in the Guru Granth Sahib.

By hosting the ‘Akhand Path,’ the Sikh community aims to showcase interfaith solidarity and celebrate the shared values of faith and spirituality that transcend religious boundaries.
