Biryani And Dosa Become Most Ordered Dish In 2021, Reports Zomato

Zomato, Dec 29: In its 2021 annual report about how Indians ordered this year, Gurugram-based Zomato says it delivered two biryanis every two seconds.

The Indian food service company said it delivered more than 8.8 million orders of dosa this year, but Zomato did not disclose the number of biryanis.

More than one million people ordered food in the country during India vs Pakistan T20 cricket match this year.

An order worth Rs 33,000 was placed by a customer in Ahmedabad on Zomato, according to the Zomato report.

A person named Shweta made 12 ice cream orders on the site in one day, Zomato reports.

The order of 389 pizzas was placed by another person from Delhi named Tushar.

One customer, Honey Katiyal, provided tips to the delivery partners on 1,250 orders. Pritee, a customer with 1,907 orders, placed the most orders.

Between 2021 and 2022, 1.1 million paneer butter masalas and butter naans were consumed.

In 2021, the Zomato platform also had 3.1 million customers who consumed vada pavs, 7.2 million who ate samosas, and 10 million who consumed momos.

The Zomato app was used by more than 200,000 people to order (cheese) dips.

The Indian company Swiggy announced recently that this year, it sold 115 biryanis per minute, enough samosas to feed the entire population of New Zealand, and enough tomatoes to last until the next Spanish Tomatina festival.

Those are the findings in an annual report by an online food delivery company based in Bengaluru.

Between January and December 2021, Swiggy received millions of orders for food, groceries on Instamart, along with drop services Swiggy Genie and HealthHub.

Over 55 million orders of biryani were placed in 2020 compared to 35 million this year. Five million people ordered samosas throughout the year, making it the most popular snack.

The second most popular snack in India was pav bhaji with 2.1 million orders. Towards the end of the evening, Indians would turn to cheese-garlic bread, popcorn, and French fries to satisfy their hunger.

Swiggy’s most popular dessert was gulab jamun, with 2.1 million orders. The second most popular dessert was ras malai with 1.27 million orders.
