Agartala, April 08: The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, has disclosed that the central government has sanctioned a substantial Rs 100 crore package for surrendered militants associated with the Nationalist Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT).

The NLFT, a banned organization, had been known to operate from clandestine locations in the hilly terrains of Bangladesh.

This financial package forms a crucial component of the Special Economic Development Package designed specifically for Tripura’s indigenous populace. It aims to assist former NLFT members who have renounced violence in their transition towards mainstream society.

Saha unveiled this development during a public gathering held in Gabordi, situated in the West Tripura district, where he was actively campaigning for Lok Sabha candidate Biplab Kumar Deb.

Extolling the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Saha attributed the successful resolution of various regional issues to Modi’s adept problem-solving skills.

He particularly highlighted the signing of 12 accords under Modi’s tenure, all directed towards fostering peace and stability in the Northeastern region since 2014.

Among the notable achievements, Saha emphasized the recent agreement reached with the Tipra Motha Party, a newfound ally in the ruling coalition.

Additionally, he commended the government’s efforts in effectively resolving the longstanding Bru issue, citing these instances as clear demonstrations of the government’s unwavering commitment to restoring peace and harmony in the region.
