New Delhi, June 09: Leaders from the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) congregated at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence ahead of his third-term swearing-in ceremony later in the evening.

Among those in attendance were Chirag Paswan from LJP, Piyush Goyal from BJP, S Jaishankar, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and HD Kumaraswamy from JD(S). The meeting, marked by a tea session, took place at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, before Modi’s scheduled oath-taking at 7:15 pm.

Sources revealed that Modi emphasized the importance of implementing the action plan for the 100-day agenda and urged prompt attention to pending projects within respective departments.

He informed the gathering that a five-year roadmap was already in place and urged everyone to work towards India’s development, aiming for the status of a developed nation by 2047.

Later in the day, Narendra Modi is set to take the oath for a historic third term as India’s Prime Minister at 7:15 pm at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Before this grand event, he paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Sadaiv Atal in Delhi.

The swearing-in ceremony is expected to witness the presence of several international dignitaries, including Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu, Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth.

Ahead of the ceremony, notable figures like Muizzu, Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, and Jugnauth arrived in the capital to partake in the momentous occasion.

Modi’s morning rituals included paying respects to Mahatma Gandhi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, followed by a visit to the National War Memorial to lay a wreath. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh accompanied him during this solemn moment.

The oath-taking event will be administered by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, and it’s confirmed that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge will be in attendance.

After being elected as the leader of the NDA, Modi met President Murmu, who formally invited him to form the government. As per tradition, she offered him ‘dahi-cheeni’ before this significant endeavor.

Security measures for the ceremony are rigorous, resembling those deployed during the G20 Summit. With a significant police presence, including drones, snipers, and NSG commandos, multiple layers of security have been arranged.

A traffic advisory has been issued, and airspace restrictions will be in effect from 3 pm to 11 pm. Guests for the swearing-in ceremony will start arriving from 5 pm onwards, with the oath-taking set to commence at 7:15 pm.

Before the ceremony, Modi will convene with his new cabinet over tea at his residence, briefing them on their responsibilities in the new government.
