The filing of the FIR is a significant step by CAP to demand accountability and transparency, especially in the aftermath of a disaster that has resulted in loss of lives and widespread devastation. The action is aimed at bringing attention to what CAP perceives as a failure on the part of officials to take necessary precautions and mitigate the impact of the glacial lake outburst flood.

A copy of the FIR has been sent to the Prime Minister’s Office and the desk of Home Minister Amit Shah, underscoring the urgency and gravity of the situation. CAP’s move seeks immediate attention and action at the highest levels of government to address the alleged lapses and ensure accountability for the consequences of the South Lhonak Glacial Lake Outburst Flood.
