Tripura

Agartala, Aug 15: Tripura is on the cusp of a significant political event as the state prepares for upcoming by-polls. The electoral landscape is heating up with senior BJP leader and the party’s coordinator for the northeastern states, Sambit Patra, taking the reins and chairing a pivotal meeting of the party’s election committee in Tripura. The meeting, held at the party’s state headquarters, sought to shape the strategy and discuss crucial aspects of the impending by-polls.

As anticipation runs high, speculation regarding the selection of candidates and the party’s approach to the election is rife. Despite the enthusiasm, BJP Tripura Pradesh President Rajib Bhattacharjee emphasized that the party maintains a well-established protocol for candidate announcements.

He noted that while views and perspectives were shared during the meeting chaired by Sambit Patra, the final decision on candidates would be made by the party’s parliamentary board, a consistent tradition within the BJP.

When queried about the specific criteria guiding candidate selection, Sambit Patra highlighted that the decision did not rest within his purview. Bhattacharjee, further emphasizing the adherence to due process, conveyed optimism that the picture would be clearer within the next few days.
