Guwahati, May 04: In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Kamrup Metro District Administration has implemented significant measures to ensure a smooth electoral process.

According to an order issued by the Kamrup Metro District Commissioner, Guwahati will observe 48 hours of dry days starting from 5:00 PM on May 5 until 5:00 PM on May 7.

This decision, made in compliance with governmental directives outlined in ECF No. 271931/394 dated March 29, 2024, aims to facilitate the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections scheduled for May 7.

The primary objective is to maintain public order and ensure an uninterrupted voting process.

During this designated period, the sale and consumption of alcohol will be strictly prohibited within the Kamrup Metropolitan District, aligning with efforts to create a conducive environment for voters and election officials alike.
