Agartala, May 04: Approximately 20 companies from the Tripura State Rifles (TSR), renowned for their elite counter-insurgency capabilities, are set to be deployed across Bihar and Odisha for Lok Sabha election duties.
According to a source within the Tripura Home Department, about 1500 TSR personnel will be stationed in various regions for electoral duties.
“We’ve received directives from higher authorities to release TSR for election duties in Bihar and Odisha. Ten companies have already been dispatched to Odisha, while the remaining five are expected to move to Bihar shortly,” the source disclosed.

The TSR’s reputation extends beyond Tripura, with notable contributions to national security, including pivotal roles during the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
Their India Reserve (IR) battalions have been crucial in election security operations across several states, following mandates from the Ministry of Home Affairs allowing their mobilization nationwide as needed for electoral purposes.
