Guwahati, May 13: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasized the importance of Punjab giving Prime Minister Narendra Modi a chance, citing the overwhelming support Modi has received from North and West India. He noted that East India is also inclined to support Modi.
Speaking at a public gathering in Patiala, Punjab, Sarma expressed confidence in Modi’s candidacy for the state. He remarked, “North and West India have already given their full support to PM Modi. Now, even East India is considering the same. I believe Punjab will also favor him.”
The upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Punjab, scheduled for June 1, 2024, hold significance as the state contributes 13 Lok Sabha constituencies.
Sarma asserted that Modi possesses the qualities to offer effective leadership to Punjab, contrasting this with the perceived limitations of both the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress.

He stated, “Neither AAP nor Congress, neither Bhagwant Mann nor Rahul Gandhi, can provide the leadership Punjab needs. PM Modi, if given the opportunity, can guide Punjab towards development, much like he has done for the country.”
Highlighting Modi’s emotional connection to Punjab, Sarma mentioned the Prime Minister’s recent visit to Gurdwara Patna Sahib in Bihar, where he participated in serving langar.
He urged the people of Punjab to recognize Modi’s attachment to the state and to grant him an opportunity to lead.
