Gangtok, Sept 26: The Tata group’s Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) has announced the expansion of its presence in Sikkim with the opening of a resort in the state capital, Gangtok. This new resort, boasting 69 keys and spanning 14 acres of land, offers a serene retreat blending Sikkimese aesthetics with contemporary design.

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang graced the resort’s opening, emphasizing the significance of this development for the region’s commercial and tourism prospects.

Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director, and CEO of IHCL, expressed his enthusiasm about the launch of the Taj Guras Kutir Resort & Spa in Gangtok. He highlighted that this move underscores IHCL’s dedication to harnessing the commercial and tourism potential of the area. With its presence in Gangtok, IHCL aims to strengthen its foothold in Sikkim and introduce new travel circuits.

Located amidst the picturesque alpine landscape of Sikkim, the resort is surrounded by lush greenery, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the majestic Kanchenjunga mountain.

This addition brings IHCL’s portfolio to a total of 11 hotels in Northeast India, including three hotels representing the Taj, Vivanta, and Ginger brands in Sikkim. With three more hotels under development, IHCL is committed to providing exceptional hospitality experiences in this thriving region.
