1. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts light to moderate rainfall across northeast and eastern regions in the next few hours.
2. Sikkim and adjoining areas of sub-Himalayan West Bengal, West Arunachal Pradesh, West Assam, and Meghalaya may experience occasional intense spells.
3. Thunderstorms with lightning are also expected in extreme northeast Bihar within the next three hours.


Weather Update, June 14: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts light to moderate rainfall across northeast and eastern regions in the next few hours.

Sikkim and adjoining areas of sub-Himalayan West Bengal, West Arunachal Pradesh, West Assam, and Meghalaya may experience occasional intense spells.

Thunderstorms with lightning are also expected in extreme northeast Bihar within the next three hours.

IMD’s update mentioned, “Expect light to moderate rainfall with occasional intense spells over Sikkim & adjoining areas of sub-Himalayan West Bengal, West Arunachal Pradesh, West Assam, and Meghalaya. Additionally, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning likely over extreme northeast Bihar for the next 3 hours.”

Earlier, on Thursday, IMD had predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated extremely heavy falls continuing over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Northeast India for the next 4-5 days.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon has advanced into Maharashtra, covering regions like Navsari, Jalgaon, Amravati, and Chandrapur, and is expected to progress further into Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and northwest Bay of Bengal in the coming 3-4 days.

IMD also issued a heatwave warning for northern India, stating, “Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions likely over northern parts of India during the next 4-5 days.”
