Kolkata, Nov 19: As the Cricket World Cup final approaches, Kolkata’s restaurants and hotels are bustling with activity, preparing to create a special experience for patrons during the much-anticipated match between India and Australia on Sunday at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.

Restaurant and hotel owners in the city are anticipating a full house on match day, with many establishments planning special offers for their customers. Sudesh Poddar, president of the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Association of India (FHRAI) and owner of several restaurants, mentioned the installation of giant screens in their establishments, accompanied by unique combo offers for patrons on the big day.

Popular venues like BJ’s Sports Restrau & Lounge and Five Mad Men have also set up large screens for live telecasts, expecting a surge in visitors, particularly in the afternoon. Traditionally, on match days, people tend to arrive after the first innings to enjoy the rest of the game over drinks. However, Sunday’s World Cup final is expected to draw crowds early in the day.

At Beadon Street, preparations include a massive screen for live telecasts and seating arrangements for approximately 100 people. The goal is to recreate the vibrant atmosphere of a stadium, offering a unique and immersive experience for fans to relish the rare moments of a World Cup final. Local residents, such as 35-year-old Debargha Dey, express their excitement, highlighting the infrequency of such opportunities to savor a stadium-like environment.
