Imphal, Oct 20: Manipur Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Singh emphasized the urgent need for peaceful dialogue between communities to restore normalcy in the conflict-hit state.
During a press briefing, Singh acknowledged the difficult situation but assured that efforts are underway to address the challenges swiftly.
“These are very challenging times, but we are tackling the situation with all available resources and cooperation from everyone,” Singh said.
He noted that while significant disruptions and damage have occurred, there have been improvements over the past year and a half, with a noticeable reduction in violence, deaths, and injuries.

However, sporadic incidents of arson and firing persist, and security forces remain vigilant.
Singh stressed that the only lasting solution is a peaceful dialogue between the conflicting communities, urging all parties to come forward with suggestions.
He also praised the restraint shown by security forces, explaining that they have avoided aggressive actions to prevent harm to civilians.
“We are a civilian-friendly force, and our priority is to avoid unnecessary damage to innocent lives,” he added.
