Imphal, April 13: In response to recent ethnic violence in Manipur, the government is taking proactive steps to ensure that approximately 5,000 displaced individuals have the opportunity to vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

To facilitate this, 29 special polling stations are being established, including some in relief camps where the displaced individuals are currently residing.

These arrangements have been initiated based on directives from the central government, reflecting a concerted effort to uphold democratic principles and ensure that all eligible citizens can exercise their right to vote.

Kiran Kumar, the Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West, affirmed that these special polling stations are essential to guaranteeing electoral participation for those affected by the violence.

The establishment of these special polling stations underscores the government’s commitment to fostering stability and inclusivity in the electoral process.

Central Armed Police Force personnel will be deployed to oversee vulnerable polling stations, enhancing safety and ensuring the integrity of the electoral process.
