Itanagar, April 12: In a recent development, massive protests have erupted in the northeastern Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh after reports emerged that China has named 11 villages in the region in Mandarin. 3 KM Peaceful March to Miao Township in the westernmost parts of Arunachal Pradesh was organised by the local population.

The move has been seen as yet another attempt by China to assert its territorial claims over the disputed border region.

Arunachal Pradesh has long been a bone of contention between India and China, with both countries claiming it as part of their territory. The two sides have had several standoffs along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), the de facto border between the two countries, in recent years.

The naming of the 11 villages in Mandarin has further escalated tensions between the two countries. The move has been condemned by the Indian government, which has urged China to refrain from taking any unilateral actions that could escalate tensions in the region.

The people of Arunachal Pradesh, who are mostly of Tibetan origin, have also voiced their opposition to the move. They have taken to the streets in large numbers to protest against what they see as an attempt by China to erode their cultural identity and stake a claim over their land.

The protests have been peaceful so far, but there are concerns that the situation could spiral out of control if tensions between India and China continue to escalate. The Indian government has said that it is closely monitoring the situation and will take appropriate action to safeguard the country’s territorial integrity.

The naming of the villages in Mandarin is just the latest in a series of provocative actions by China in the region. The Indian government has accused China of regularly violating the LAC and has called for a resolution to the border dispute through diplomatic channels.

The situation in Arunachal Pradesh is a reminder of the longstanding tensions between India and China and the need for both countries to find a peaceful and lasting solution to their border dispute.
