Shillong, Jan 19: Amit Shah, the Union Minister for Home Affairs and Cooperation, visited the headquarters of Directorate General Assam Rifles in Laitkor, Shillong, on January 19.

During his visit, the Union Minister took a windshield tour of the well-laid-out garrison, gaining insights into the operational capabilities and preparedness of Assam Rifles.

Amit Shah, as a mark of respect, laid a wreath at the War Memorial at Headquarters Directorate General Assam Rifles, paying homage to the supreme sacrifice made by the Bravehearts of Assam Rifles in the line of duty.

He commended the high morale displayed by the troops of Assam Rifles and emphasized the unparalleled role they play as Sentinels of the North East. The Union Minister expressed that the nation will forever remain indebted to their dedication and sacrifice.

Amit Shah’s visit to Shillong is part of his attendance at the 71st Plenary session of the Northeast Council, highlighting the government’s commitment to addressing regional issues and fostering development in the Northeastern states.

In a significant move to enhance security capabilities, Amit Shah inaugurated the Cyber Security Operations Center at HQ DG AR during his visit to Laitkor.

This center is designed to equip Assam Rifles with advanced capabilities to counter cyber threats effectively, providing the force with a crucial tool in the modern era of digital warfare.

The establishment of this center aligns with the government’s emphasis on strengthening cybersecurity infrastructure across defense and security establishments in the country.
