Aizawl, May 10: The Mizoram Bawngsa Zuar Association, representing beef sellers in Mizoram, issued a notice to non-Mizo beef vendors, urging them to cease operations immediately.
President H. Lalhmingthanga emphasized the traditional nature of beef selling in Mizoram and highlighted unauthorized involvement by non-Mizo individuals, particularly Muslims and those from Bihar.
These individuals, holding Inner Line Permits for construction work, have engaged in unauthorized beef sales.
Lalhmingthanga expressed concerns over collaboration between local Mizos and outsiders in this illegal trade, noting instances of beef sales on Sundays, a sacred day in Mizoram.
The Association warned of potential economic assimilation and urged Mizos to refrain from such collaborations for the state’s long-term economic security.

Non-Mizo vendors were instructed to halt beef sales by May 13, 2024, with a disclaimer that the Association would not be liable for any consequences.
