Zoramthanga

1. Zoramthanga, President of MNF, accuses ZPM of receiving BJP funds before the 2023 Mizoram elections.
2. Claims suggest ZPM sought alignment with NDA, evidenced by interactions with Assam CM.
3. Accusations highlight potential political entanglements and financial support from national parties.

Aizawl, March 27: Zoramthanga, President of the Mizo National Front (MNF), has leveled accusations against the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM), claiming it received financial support from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the 2023 Mizoram elections.

Allegations include ZPM’s alleged ties with BJP and attempts to align with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), as indicated by overtures made to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Zoramthanga, a former Mizoram Chief Minister, asserted MNF’s opposition to NDA policies despite being part of the alliance, highlighting their consistent advocacy for minority interests and Mizoram’s welfare.

He emphasized that, unlike MNF, ZPM’s alignment with NDA could impede dissent against policies not in Mizoram’s favor.

Zoramthanga recounted an episode with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, alleging Shah’s concession on withdrawing Mizoram Police from an inter-state border came only after Zoramthanga threatened resignation.

In contrast, ZPM Chief Minister Lalduhoma maintains the party’s independence from national alliances, arguing regional parties should retain autonomy for effective representation.
