Weather, June 08: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported the Southwest Monsoon’s advancement into more regions, including the central Arabian Sea, south Maharashtra, Telangana, and parts of Chhattisgarh and Odisha.

Favorable conditions are anticipated for further progression into the central Arabian Sea, and additional areas of Maharashtra, including Mumbai, and Telangana in the next 2-3 days.

Over the next five days, heavy rainfall is forecasted for Maharashtra and Coastal and North Interior Karnataka, with isolated weighty rainfall expected in Maharashtra from June 8 to 11 and in Karnataka on June 8 and 9.

Widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds is predicted for various regions, including Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Karnataka, Kerala & Mahe, and Lakshadweep.

A cyclonic circulation over central Assam and neighboring areas, along with strong southwesterly/southerly winds from the Bay of Bengal, is expected to bring widespread light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds over several northeastern states and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim in the next seven days.

Two cyclonic circulations over northwest Madhya Pradesh and east Bihar are likely to cause isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds over Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh in the next 4-5 days. Additionally, Madhya Pradesh may experience isolated hailstorms and squally winds on June 8 and 9.

A Western Disturbance combined with prevailing southwesterly winds from the Arabian Sea is expected to bring isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning to Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand on June 8 and 9. Dust storms and thundersqualls are also likely in Rajasthan during this period.
