New Delhi, June 09: Narendra Modi is set to take the oath for an unprecedented third term as India’s Prime Minister today.
The ceremony will be attended by numerous international dignitaries, including Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu, Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
In a series of tributes before the event, Modi honored Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Sadaiv Atal in Delhi.
He also laid a wreath at the National War Memorial, accompanied by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for 7.15 pm at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where President Droupadi Murmu will administer the oath to Modi and his Council of Ministers.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has been invited to the ceremony, though he will decide on his attendance after consulting with members of the INDIA bloc, sources told India Today on Saturday.
Following his selection as the leader of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Modi met with President Murmu on Friday, who formally invited him to form the government. As part of the Indian tradition, she offered him ‘dahi-cheeni’ (curd mixed with sugar) for good luck.
The Delhi Police have issued a traffic advisory and implemented extensive security measures akin to those during the G20 Summit last year. Security for the event will include drones, snipers, paramilitary personnel, and NSG commandos, with around 2,500 police personnel deployed around Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Additionally, there will be airspace restrictions in Delhi from 3 pm to 11 pm today, although scheduled flights and military operations will not be affected.
Guests are expected to start arriving from 5 pm, with the oath-taking ceremony commencing at 7.15 pm.
Earlier this morning, Delhi Police conducted a dummy convoy on the VVIP route. Special security measures have been arranged for the hotels where foreign guests will be staying.
Before the ceremony, Modi will meet with his new cabinet over tea at his residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, to brief the ministers on their responsibilities in the new government.
