Kohima, Dec 01: On the occasion of Nagaland’s 61st Statehood Day, President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed their warm greetings to the people of the state.

President Murmu expressed her prayers for the “prosperity and well-being” of Nagaland’s residents, emphasizing the state’s vibrant people, rich culture, and abundance of natural resources.

Prime Minister Modi, through a tweet on X, admired Nagaland’s fascinating history, colorful festivals, and warm-hearted people, wishing for the state’s continued journey towards growth and success.

During the Statehood Day celebrations in Kohima, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio addressed the people, highlighting the strength gained by facing obstacles and adversities. He emphasized the collective responsibility of the people to carry the state’s legacy forward.

Various leaders also extended their wishes to Nagaland on this special day. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar commended Nagaland as a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity, showcasing the diversity of the nation.

Home Minister Amit Shah acknowledged Nagaland’s indomitable spirit and contributions to cultural history, expressing hopes for the state’s continued prosperity.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur conveyed heartfelt greetings, praising the breathtaking scenery and warm-hearted people of Nagaland for maintaining a lovely balance with nature while preserving rich traditions. He wished for the state’s continued prosperity and growth.

Nagaland Statehood Day, observed annually on December 1 since its formal inauguration as the 16th state of the Union in 1963, marks the establishment of a democratically elected government in 1964.

This year, Nagaland celebrates its 61st Statehood Day, with the state comprising 16 administrative districts and being home to 17 major tribes along with various sub-tribes. The occasion holds significance in recognizing Nagaland’s unique cultural identity and its journey as an integral part of the Indian Union.
