2. Pastor Wapangtoshi, representing NEIWAC and NCF Chennai, highlights the significance of restoring this vital transportation link.
3. The discontinuation of the service due to the pandemic has posed challenges for Northeastern residents in Tamil Nadu, necessitating alternative, often inconvenient travel arrangements.
Kohima, Feb 26: The North East India Welfare Association Chennai (NEIWAC) has reached out to Tamil Nadu governor RN Ravi, urging his intervention to revive the Chennai-Dimapur train service.
Pastor Wapangtoshi, president of NEIWAC and Naga Christian Fellowship Chennai (NCF Chennai), submitted a letter outlining the importance of reinstating this crucial transportation link.
Before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the direct train service from Chennai to Dimapur served as a lifeline for many Northeastern residents, especially those from Nagaland, Manipur, and parts of Assam residing in and around Chennai.
However, the suspension of this service has created significant challenges, compelling individuals to seek alternative, often inconvenient travel options or incur higher expenses.

By facilitating easier and more affordable travel, the reinstated service would foster inclusivity, bridge geographical gaps, and promote unity among diverse communities.
