The meeting, scheduled for 11:30 am via Zoom, will bring together leaders from 28 opposition parties forming the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA).

The discussions hold significance in shaping their strategy for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, with the primary goal of challenging and defeating the BJP in 2024.

Jairam Ramesh, Congress general secretary in charge of communications, shared details about the meeting on social media, stating, “They will review various issues like seat-sharing talks that have begun, participation in Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra that will begin from Thoubal near Imphal day after tomorrow, and other important matters.”

However, Mamata Banerjee, leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), will not be part of the virtual meeting due to prior commitments.

The INDIA alliance faces internal challenges, including disagreements over the appointment of a convenor, with the JD(U) proposing Nitish Kumar, a move opposed by Mamata Banerjee’s TMC.

In a separate development, representatives from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress engaged in talks on seat-sharing arrangements for the upcoming general elections, focusing on key states such as Delhi and Punjab.

The meeting, held at the residence of senior Congress leader Mukul Wasnik, lasted for over two hours. Salman Khurshid, a Congress leader involved in the seat-sharing committee, expressed optimism about the discussions, emphasizing the positive and open-hearted exchange of ideas.

These discussions reflect the ongoing efforts to build a cohesive opposition strategy and collaborative approach among INDIA alliance members as they gear up for the electoral challenges ahead.
