PM Modi Makes Bold Prediction for BJP in West Bengal’s Lok Sabha Seats

1. PM Modi labels TMC’s struggle for survival and predicts BJP’s landslide victory in West Bengal.
2. Elections in the state heavily favor BJP, asserts PM Modi.
3. West Bengal slated to be BJP’s top-performing region in 2024 polls, PM Modi predicts.

Kolkata, May 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has characterized Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress (TMC) as being in a struggle for survival and has confidently predicted a landslide victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal.

PM Modi asserted that the elections in the state are heavily tilted in favor of the BJP, making it the party’s top-performing region in the upcoming 2024 polls.

“In Bengal elections, TMC party is fighting for existence. You must have seen it in the last assembly elections, we had three seats. The people of Bengal took us from three to 80. We got a lot of support in the Lok Sabha in the last elections. This time, the best-performing state in India is going to be West Bengal. BJP is getting [the] most success in West Bengal,” PM Modi stated confidently.

The BJP’s remarkable rise in West Bengal was evident in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections when it secured 18 out of 42 seats, a significant leap from just 2 seats in 2014. TMC managed to secure 22 seats in the same elections.

Echoing PM Modi’s sentiments, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had earlier forecasted that BJP would clinch between 24 to 30 seats in West Bengal this year.

Highlighting the BJP’s burgeoning presence in the state, PM Modi described TMC leaders as “frustrated” and anticipated a one-sided election in West Bengal.

“Despite constant murders and attacks, and BJP workers being unjustly jailed, the public continues to turn out in large numbers to cast their votes,” PM Modi remarked.

PM Modi also criticized TMC’s handling of the Calcutta High Court’s decision to invalidate all OBC certificates issued in West Bengal after 2010.

Referring to Mamata Banerjee’s refusal to accept the high court’s ruling on OBC certificates, PM Modi accused TMC of denigrating the judiciary.

“They have a modus operandi. First, they started the sin of giving it to minorities by making a law in Andhra Pradesh, they lost in the Supreme Court and the High Court rejected it because the Constitution does not allow it. So they cleverly started the game from the back door and these people overnight made all the castes of Muslim as OBCs and they robbed the OBCs of their rights…When the high court’s judgment came, it became clear that such a big fraud was taking place. But what is even more unfortunate is that for vote bank politics, now they are also abusing the judiciary. And they are even saying that no matter what happens, we are not going to listen to the court. This situation cannot be acceptable under any circumstances,” PM Modi said in the interview.

With voting concluded in 33 out of 42 seats in West Bengal across six phases of the Lok Sabha elections, the remaining nine constituencies are set to vote on June 1 in the final phase of the general election.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu took to the microblogging site X to announce the alert, urging residents to exercise caution and avoid vulnerable and isolated locations.

“I request everyone to take all precautionary measures and avoid vulnerable and isolated locations,” Khandu wrote, underscoring the potential dangers posed by the approaching cyclone.

The IMD has detailed that thunderstorms with lightning and extremely heavy rainfall are expected in isolated places within Papumpare and West Kameng districts, while East Kameng and Pakke-Kessang districts should prepare for very heavy rainfall and lightning on May 28 and 29.

Chief Minister Khandu also highlighted the need for preparedness in his social media post, emphasizing the importance of staying informed and adhering to safety advisories. “In case of any emergency, please contact the District Administration,” he added, directing citizens to seek assistance from local authorities if needed.

Local governments are currently mobilizing resources and personnel to address potential emergencies. Disaster response teams are on standby, and helplines have been established to provide support and information to residents.
