Tripura Goldsmith builds low-cost oxygen concentrator for COVID patients

Tripura, 30th November: Adversity can often lead to innovation meet Ranjan Kumar Dhar a goldsmith in Tripura’s Jogendra Nagar Village who has devised a low-cost oxygen concentrator to help COVID19 patients.

The 38 years old’s inspiration for building the device came from his mother Kanika Dhar who tested positive for Covid 19 in September this year. The 62-year-old woman was discharged from GBP hospital in Agartala. She needed an oxygen concentrator to help her in recovery.

This was when her family learned that an oxygen concentrator costs Rs 650000 and renting an oxygen cylinder wasn’t cheap either it was Rs 1500 per day. I was always fond of trying things with electrical appliances. So I decided to try and make an oxygen concentrator.

He spent most of his time in a small room which he calls his innovation room trying to make things out of damaged materials by reading books, watching YouTube tutorials, and consulting with technicians and engineers.

“I have used a few water bottles, a damaged water purifier, a humidifier bottle, a few exhaust fans, from a computer store, switches and circuit to device cost me one-third of the existing machines in the market. I want experts to test my device and see it fits the requirements and standard,” said Dhar.

Assam will bring law making it mandatory for bride & groom to disclose religion, source of income

1

Assam, 30th November: Assam government is working on a new marriage law that will make mandatory to disclose religion and source of income among other things for both the bride and the groom This move has come to light as several BJP-ruled states announcing laws to tackle incidents of ‘Love Jihad‘.

Assam Finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said that the state government’s new marriage will not resemble the one being implemented in Uttar Pradesh or Madhya Pradesh. This law will basically empower women.

“Obviously, it will have an element of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh where you have to disclose your religion and you cannot hide your religion on social media. But this act will bring full transparency between husband and wife which includes their religion and it will have a legal entity,” Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

Minister went on to add, “Assam is up for elections in the next four months and so we should not bring a legislature at the fate of our term.”

“This is an issue I will not say Love Jihad. My whole submission is that you should not enter into a married life if there is no transparency between the couple. It is important to disclose – what is my religion, what I do, how much do I earn. I am not saying that you should only disclose your religion. I think you should also disclose your income, members of your family, what is your business. Because many times, the girl enters into marriage even if they are from the same religion and later on, the girl realizes that her husband is doing some wrong business,” Himanta Biswa Sarma added.

He also said, “Our idea is that, not Love Jihad, you should not hide your identity, including religion, business or income. It is a question of bringing transparency in marriage.”

Assam is going to do something which will not be against any religion but aims to bring inclusive transparency in the institution of marriage, Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

“We have already started drafting legislation which will bring transparency in the institution of marriage. We do not want to use the word Love Jihad. Not only for love affairs, it will be mandatory for even normal marriage also and both husband and wife will have to disclose it. There will be a disclosure pro forma which will be given to the wife by the husband and the wife will give it to the husband. It will not talk about religion, it will talk about everything which a wife needs to know,” he added.

Assam minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also revealed that these details regarding this law will have to be disclosed one month before the wedding.

Dilip responds to ‘Gunda’ barb, hits out at TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee

Bengal, 30th November: BJP State President Dilip Gosh, responding to Abhishek Banerjee ‘Gunda’ barb, said it was a sign of TMC getting scared and that the party was weakening.

Dilip Ghosh went to attend the ‘Chai par Charcha‘ program in Hanuman Temple at Dumdum Road of Kolkata on Monday morning. He was welcome on a chariot by the supporter.

Ghosh said, “In the Panchayat election, we all saw that who the “Gunda” is. Not only Gunda, but he also called me “Mafia” as well. His house cost Rs 7 crore and I stay in a normal building. You can understand who “Mafia” is. 25 cars were there in his convoy. His frustration has gone to another level that is why he has to shout on road. What’s wrong with ‘bhaipo’? I called him ‘Bhaipo’ with due respect. In Delhi, Yuvraj called “Pappu” will you be okay with Pappu? I am not saying ‘Bhaipo‘. I am saying ‘Khokababu‘.”

Ghosh allege that TMC has forcefully removed the common people from Kalighat to build their own private property.

“He came to politics with support and still he supports then he must fight. Workers who scarify their life are on-road and standing in front of their house. Now he became the MP with the support. What’s wrong with this? People know everything. There is nothing to shout on. People are watching and observing their activity in 10 years. Private property has been made in Kalighat. Common people have been forced to shift from there,” Ghosh added.

BJP is planning to take action against TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee over his remark.

“And I have been claimed as Mafia and Guda? If this is called Gunda then yes I am working as a gangster for common people. I have just started my work for the benefit of people. It’s just a beginning, many things are there to see. Our lawyer is looking after the matter. But people have to think before using these terms in a public meeting. If they think that they are the owner after being elected, then you must remember that people can elect and they can take the power from your hand,” Ghosh further added.
