Kolkata, March 06: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public rally at Barasat in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district, denouncing the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government over the Sandeshkhali issue.

Modi condemned the atrocities against women under TMC rule, vowing that justice would prevail despite attempts to shield the perpetrators. He assured that the “storm of Sandeshkhali” would reach every part of West Bengal.

The rally followed the inauguration of India’s first underwater Metro section and other infrastructure projects earlier in the day by Modi.

In Sandeshkhali, numerous women have accused suspended TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan and his associates of land grabbing and sexual harassment. Shahjahan Sheikh has been arrested by the Bengal police.
