Varanasi, Feb 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Varanasi on Thursday evening to commence various development projects scheduled for Friday and partake in other engagements.

During his visit, PM Modi, accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, conducted a late-night inspection of the Shivpur-Phulwaria-Lahartara Marg.

Constructed for Rs 360 crore, this road aims to alleviate traffic congestion, reducing travel time from BHU to the airport from 75 minutes to 45 minutes and shortening the distance from Lahartara to Kachahri from 30 minutes to 15 minutes.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) to share details of his visit, PM Modi wrote, “Upon landing in Kashi, inspected the Shivpur-Phulwaria-Lahartara Marg. This project was inaugurated recently and has been greatly helpful to people in the southern part of the city.”

According to an official statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), PM Modi is scheduled to perform a ‘pooja’ and have a ‘darshan’ at the Sant Guru Ravidas Janmasthali on Friday morning.

Subsequently, at 11:30 am, he will attend a function commemorating the 647th birth anniversary of Sant Guru Ravidas.

During this public event, PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for various development projects exceeding Rs 13,000 crore in Varanasi, his parliamentary constituency.

In addition to these initiatives, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several road projects aimed at enhancing Varanasi’s connectivity.

These include the four-laning of the Ghargra-Bridge-Varanasi section of National Highway 233 and the four-laning of the Sultanpur-Varanasi section of National Highway 56.
