New Delhi, Dec 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a conversation with Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, expressing deep concern over the theatrical conduct exhibited by a TMC MP in Parliament.

The Vice President’s office disclosed that PM Modi conveyed his discomfort regarding the overt theatrics witnessed in the parliamentary proceedings. Dhankhar shared this information via a post on X, detailing the call he received from PM Modi.

PM Modi expressed his distress regarding the dramatic actions of certain MPs within the parliamentary setting.

He revealed that he had endured such insults for over two decades but was particularly disturbed that it occurred within a Constitutional office, that of the Vice President.

President Droupadi Murmu took a tweet and expressed concern “I was dismayed to see how our respected Vice President was humiliated in the Parliament complex. Elected representatives must be free to express themselves, but their expression should be within the norms of dignity and courtesy. That has been the Parliamentary tradition we are proud of, and the People of India expect them to uphold it.”

Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar replied to the President’s tweet and wrote Thank you Rashtrapati Ji for your kind words and the timely reminder that basic courtesies must always remain. I am committed to upholding Constitutional principles till my last breath. No insults can prevent me from doing so.”

Dhankhar conveyed that he reassured the Prime Minister that the behavior of a few individuals would not hinder him from fulfilling his duty and upholding the Constitution. He asserted that no amount of insults would divert him from his path.
