Dwarka, Sept 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked his birthday by inaugurating the first phase of the India International Convention Centre (IICC), known as YashoBhoomi, in Dwarka.

The state-of-the-art convention center, built at a cost of ₹5,400 crores, spans over 73,000 square meters and boasts 15 convention rooms, including the main auditorium, a grand ballroom, and 13 meeting rooms with a combined capacity to accommodate 11,000 delegates.

The day before the inauguration, PM Modi celebrated the project’s sustainability features. He highlighted the modern wastewater treatment system, provisions for rainwater harvesting, and the Platinum certification from the Indian Green Building Council that the complex had received in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

In preparation for the event, Delhi Police issued a traffic advisory, notifying possible restrictions and traffic congestion on National Highway-48 (NH-48). They advised commuters to avoid NH-48 to Nirmal Dham Nala or the Urban Extension Road 2 (UER-II) throughout the day.

The government explained that PM Modi’s sustained focus has been to support individuals engaged in traditional crafts. This emphasis aims to assist artisans and craftspeople financially while preserving age-old traditions, culture, and diverse heritage through local products, art, and crafts.

Before the inauguration, Modi met with artisans from various states at an exhibition held at the International Convention & Expo Centre in Delhi’s Dwarka on Sunday.
