Rahul Gandhi Tripura

Agartala, Oct 28: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit Tripura for a two-day event at the end of December or in the first two weeks of January 2024.

During this two-day tour, the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee plans to organize a large rally, reminiscent of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, aimed at rejuvenating the party’s presence in the BJP-ruled state, according to Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee President Asish Saha.

Saha, who recently visited South Tripura to oversee organizational activities, believes that this ambitious rally will serve as a powerful expression of the growing public discontent with the ruling administration.

Recalling the violent incidents that Congress workers faced during the Bharat Jodo Yatra in the state, Saha said, “When Rahul Gandhi was leading a nationwide unity march, TPCC also initiated processions and rallies on a smaller scale to promote the message of inclusive politics. However, the ruling party used various unfair tactics to prevent us from raising awareness about their divisive politics. Several Congress leaders have been subjected to brutal attacks by goons sponsored by the ruling party.”

Responding to questions about organizational challenges and the Congress’s revival in South Tripura, Saha stated, “The state Congress unit is in constant communication with AICC-appointed leaders for the state. We recently submitted a set of proposals to the AICC, seeking approval. We hope the AICC will approve all these measures soon, allowing us to begin the process of organizational restructuring at the block, district, and state committee levels.”
