Imphal, July 06: Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, is likely to visit Manipur on July 8, according to party sources. During his visit, he plans to visit relief camps and meet with Manipur Congress leaders.

Gandhi is expected to visit places like Moirang and Churachandpur, where he will interact with internally displaced people in relief camps.

Earlier this year, Rahul Gandhi launched the party’s mass outreach program, Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, from Manipur’s Thoubal. The yatra covered over 6,700 km across 15 states from Manipur to Mumbai.

At a rally in Manipur this year, Gandhi criticized the BJP over the ethnic clashes that began in May 2023 between the Kuki and Meitei communities, which have resulted in over 220 deaths.

He called Manipur an example of BJP’s “politics of hatred” and accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP of neglecting the state.

Gandhi might head to Nagaland on the same day.
