Gangtok, July 06: Sikkim will observe ‘A Day for Mother Earth’ on July 7, 2024, an annual event initiated by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang in 2019.
Celebrated with great enthusiasm each year, the day aims to raise environmental awareness and address global warming and climate change.
As part of the initiative, all vehicular movement in the state will be halted from 11:00 am to 11:07 am on July 7.
This seven-minute pause is intended to highlight the importance of environmental conservation and encourage participation from various stakeholders.
To ensure the success of this initiative, the state government has instructed all traffic police personnel to enforce the halt of vehicular movement during this period.

However, vehicles involved in emergency and essential services will be exempted.
