The issue of cattle transportation has been a longstanding point of conflict between Assam and Meghalaya. While Assam has imposed a ban on the transportation of cattle across its borders, Meghalaya has not implemented any such restriction.

This difference in policies has led to frequent apprehensions of cattle traders from Meghalaya in Assam.

The ban imposed by Assam on cattle transportation has caused economic hardships for the traders and farmers in Meghalaya, as it restricts their ability to sell or purchase cattle from the neighboring state. The restriction also affects the smooth flow of trade and commerce between the regions, creating friction in their relationship.
