Shri Karma R Bonpo IAS, Secretary, Commerce and Industries, received the award on behalf of Sikkim.

The ODOP Award reflects the success of Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Golay’s vision of “One Family One Entrepreneur.” Sikkim’s government, under the Skilled Youth Startup Scheme, has empowered entrepreneurs with subsidized loans and training to promote local ODOP (One District One Product) products.

The Department of Commerce and Industry in Sikkim has taken significant steps to brand and market products from the state, creating an ecosystem for local products to flourish. Further initiatives are planned under the World Bank-funded Sikkim Inspires Project to promote ODOP products.

The ODOP initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, aiming for socio-economic development across all districts. The focus is on selecting, branding, and promoting one product from each district, addressing challenges in the supply chain, enhancing market accessibility, and unlocking export potential.

The DPIIT launched the ODOP Awards to recognize exceptional achievements at the district, state/UT, and international levels, celebrating economic development through the ODOP approach. The award signifies Sikkim’s commitment to promoting local products and contributing to the vision of a self-reliant India.
