LPG cylinder

Agartala, Aug 30: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the central government announced a reduction in the prices of LPG cylinder by Rs 200.

The reduction in LPG domestic gas cylinder prices was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. Chief Minister Manik Saha sees this as a significant gift to the middle-class and poor households, particularly women.

Saha stated, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the reduction in LPG domestic gas cylinder prices on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. This is a huge gift to the women of the middle class and poor households.”

The residents of Tripura, especially women, are appreciative of this scheme, and Saha extended his thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on behalf of the people of Tripura.

This move to reduce LPG cylinder prices has received positive responses from leaders across party lines. West Bengal Leader of Opposition and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari welcomed the decision and said, “We welcome the gift Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given to the citizens of the country on Raksha Bandhan. This step would definitely benefit the common man.”

Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi also emphasized the relief this reduction brings to women, who often manage households. She stated, “It is a relief to all women because they run the households, and even small things make a lot of difference, and this is a big thing.”

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his thanks to PM Modi and described the LPG price cut as a gift to the PM’s sisters on Raksha Bandhan.

The Union Cabinet’s decision to cut LPG domestic gas cylinder prices by Rs 200 for all users was seen as a significant move to ease the burden on households. Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur, briefing reporters on the decision, called it a gift from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the women of the country on Onam and Raksha Bandhan. The decision was made during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Modi.

Starting from Wednesday, the price of a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder will be reduced by Rs 200 across the country. In Delhi, for example, this decision will lower the cost of a 14.2 kg cylinder from the existing Rs 1,103 per cylinder to Rs 903.

This reduction applies universally and is in addition to the existing targeted subsidy of Rs 200 per cylinder provided to Ujjwala households, which will continue. Therefore, the effective price in Delhi for Ujjwala beneficiaries after this reduction will be Rs 703.

It’s important to note that there are more than 31 crore domestic LPG consumers in India, including 9.6 crore Ujjwala beneficiaries.

Anurag Thakur highlighted that the current government has initiated several schemes for the development of women, including the construction of pucca houses, toilets, additional foodgrains distribution, and Direct Benefit Transfer during the Covid pandemic. This reduction in LPG cylinder prices is seen as another step in this direction, providing relief to households and benefiting women across the nation.
