Queen Pineapple

Delhi, May 17: Tripura, known for its bountiful agricultural produce, is set to showcase its pride and joy, the Queen Pineapple, at a special exhibition in New Delhi. The exhibition aims to attract buyers from national markets and further promote the popularity of this unique fruit variety.

Ratan Lal Nath, the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister of Tripura, expressed his excitement about the event and highlighted the growing appreciation for the Queen Pineapple, which has already made its way to international markets such as Dubai, Qatar, and Germany.

“We have received great feedback from Dubai and Qatar, where we exported the whole fruit, while Germany received packed pineapples in sliced form. These successful consignments have significantly benefited our farmers, fetching them good prices for their harvest. Considering the high global demand for this product, we are now focusing on making it more popular in the national market. Hence, this special exhibition is being organized in New Delhi,” explained Nath. He also mentioned that pineapple cultivation is witnessing a surge in Tripura.

The Queen Pineapple, exclusive to Tripura, holds the distinction of being the only Geographical Indication (GI) tagged product from the state. Its exceptional taste and texture set it apart from other pineapple varieties grown across the country, making it highly sought after by buyers worldwide.

Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has expressed his consent to attend the exhibition, underscoring the significance of this event. Nath mentioned that the pineapples, accompanied by a team of officials, have already reached Delhi, while the remaining consignments are scheduled to depart soon.

The primary objective of the exhibition is to attract more national buyers, allowing farmers to negotiate better prices for their crops. “Increased participation from national buyers will directly benefit our farmers and contribute to the growth of the agricultural sector,” emphasized Nath.

The announcement regarding the exhibition was made by Minister Nath during a media interaction on the sidelines of a blood donation camp organized by a private Diagnostic Center in Agartala. The event showcases the government’s commitment to supporting agriculture and fostering prosperity for farmers in Tripura.

As the Queen Pineapple takes center stage in Delhi, it not only highlights the state’s agricultural prowess but also presents a unique opportunity for consumers to savor the delectable taste of this extraordinary fruit.
