New Delhi, March 19: Zomato, the online food delivery platform, has introduced ‘Pure Veg Mode’ and ‘Pure Veg Fleet’ catering to customers with a strict vegetarian dietary preference. CEO Deepinder Goyal unveiled the initiative on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday.
Goyal emphasized India’s significant population of vegetarians and their discerning tastes in food preparation and handling. The new services address feedback from this demographic.
“To address their dietary preferences, we are launching a ‘Pure Veg Mode’ along with a ‘Pure Veg Fleet’ on Zomato for customers who strictly adhere to vegetarian diets,” stated Goyal.
The ‘Pure Veg Mode’ will showcase a curated selection of restaurants exclusively serving vegetarian cuisine, omitting any establishments offering non-vegetarian dishes.

Goyal clarified that the introduction of these services does not favor or discriminate against any religious or political inclination.
“Please note that this Pure Veg Mode, or the Pure Veg Fleet doesn’t serve or alienate any religious, or political preference,” he affirmed.
India has the largest percentage of vegetarians in the world, and one of the most important feedback we’ve gotten from them is that they are very particular about how their food is cooked, and how their food is handled.

Looking ahead, Goyal revealed plans to introduce additional specialized fleets to meet specific customer requirements.
For instance, a specialized cake delivery fleet equipped with hydraulic balancers to safeguard cakes during transit is slated to launch in the coming weeks.
“In the future, we plan to add more specialized fleets for special customer needs. For example, there’s a special cake delivery fleet coming up with hydraulic balancers which prevent your cake from getting smudged during delivery,” Goyal disclosed.
The announcement underscores Zomato’s commitment to catering to diverse dietary preferences and ensuring customer satisfaction through innovative solutions.
