Aizawl, Dec 04: Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) working president K. Sapdanga on Monday said that they will stake claim to form the government after consulting among party leaders.

The BJP, which contested 23 seats, won 2, while Congress bagged 1. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which contested 4 seats for the first time, drew a blank.

K. Sapdanga said that elected MLAs, party leaders and Val Upa Council, a decision-making body of the ZPM, may meet on Monday to stake claim the government.

He attributed the ZPM’s victory to the desire of the people to test ‘Kalphung Thar’ (a new system of governance).

“We are very thankful to the people for their support and giving us the right mandate. Our victory is mainly because of the desire by the people to test a new system of government,” he said.

Sapdanga, elected from Aizawl North-III, said that the poll results were right as expected.
