Boat Rally

Dhubri, Aug 14: As a part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, Assam’s Dhubri district management has organized a Tiranga Boats Rally on Brahmaputra River in collaboration with Dhubri Police and BSF.

To mark the 75th year of Independence Day, a boat rally was marched from Dhubri Kachari Ghat to Chalakura Char. 75 boats took part in this rally.

The 61 Kms of the Border region in Dhubri wherein the Brahmaputra river enters Bangladesh is which includes substantial char lands and innumerable river channels, a frightening task.

The Deputy Commissioner, Dhubri Anbamuthan MP took the initiative of the boat rally to conscious heaps of humans dwelling in Dhubri’s Char region to have a good time the 75 years of India’s independence together with the birthday party of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Abhijit Gurav SP Dhubri said that “This is organized to unite the people from distance like border areas and char areas. If you see the geographical map then understand that the Dhubri area has a very vital role in water. From boat transportation to normal livelihood all depends on water. To keep all these in mind we thought to give a message through water and that is why organized a boat rally. These boats will reach different places with the message of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’.”

Deputy Commissioner, Dhubri Anbamuthan said that “We have just suggested the common people organize the boat rally but all the efforts have been made by the people. We have asked for around 75 boats but it is more than that. Today we will start the boat rally from Dhubri Kachari Ghat to Chalakura Char. We have supported the locals. This is a unique thing and a very good thing.”

“It took a long way to reach Chalakura ghat but the locals have taken the initiative to do this. This time we are celebrating the 75th year of independence and we will do more such events in the 100th year of our Independence. More than 3 lakhs of flags have been distributed in the Dhubri area. Local people are very much enthusiastic about the event and hosted the flags in the houses,” Deputy Commissioner added.

All the 75 boats were decorated with tricolor flags and balloons, which creates a spectacular view and jaw-dropping atmosphere on the Brahmaputra river on the starting day of the Har Ghar Tiranga program.
