New Delhi, Feb 12: The National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre (NCIIPC) is embarking on a groundbreaking initiative to engage ethical hackers and security researchers in testing India’s critical information infrastructure (CII).

This marks the first time that such an exercise is being conducted by the NCIIPC.

To foster a culture of continuous security testing of CII, the NCIIPC is enrolling top-quality pen-testers, security researchers, and ethical hackers for this endeavor.

The exercise, expected to span 10-20 days, will take place in a controlled environment to ensure thorough evaluation.

The schedule for the exercise will be determined based on the availability of critical infrastructure entities and ethical hackers interested in participating.

Participants stand to receive rewards of up to ₹10 lakh along with commendation certificates for their contributions.

Moreover, outstanding participants may be considered for empanelment by the NCIIPC to conduct security testing exercises for India’s critical information infrastructure.

Established in January 2014 as part of the National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO), the NCIIPC serves as the designated nodal agency for protecting critical information infrastructure.

Presently, seven sectors are identified as critical information infrastructure in India, encompassing government, transport, banking and financial services, power and energy, healthcare, telecommunications, and strategic and public enterprises.
