Weather Forecast, April 22: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted relief from the heatwave in East India, with predictions of rain for Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya.

A trough towards the northeast is expected to bring rain, snow, and thunderstorms with heavy rainfall of 100 mm or more in several regions of Arunachal Pradesh until early Saturday. This same trough may hit East India, bringing light isolated showers, thunderstorms, and lightning to Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha from April 22 to 24.

Another trough stretching from Telangana to South Tamil Nadu is expected to provide mild scattered rainfall with thunderstorms in areas of South and Central India throughout the next few days.

During this time, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh may see mild to moderate isolated rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds. Isolated hailstorms are also possible in Chhattisgarh on April 23.

Temperatures are expected to fall below average due to a cooler air loft above West Bengal, which will spread to the East and Central regions beginning Friday.

While daytime temperatures are expected to reach 40°C or higher in several parts of East and South India today, heatwave conditions are possible in Bihar, Odisha, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal on April 22, as well as Gangetic West Bengal on April 23.

The sky is expected to be partly cloudy during the day, with the maximum temperature expected to be 36 degrees Celsius. On Thursday, Delhi experienced light to moderate rain, which was a welcome relief from the scorching heat.

According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR) data, the air quality index (AQI) in Delhi was moderate (151) around 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.

In summary, IMD predicts relief from the heatwave in East India, with the possibility of rain and thunderstorms in several regions of Arunachal Pradesh and East India. The cooler air loft is expected to bring temperatures below average in the East and Central regions of India.

However, heatwave conditions are still possible in Bihar, Odisha, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Gangetic West Bengal. People are advised to stay hydrated and take necessary precautions during the ongoing heatwave.
