2. Assam’s Barpeta and Nagaon also ranked in the top 10 for voter turnout.
3. High voter engagement in these constituencies highlights strong democratic commitment.

Dhubri, May 26: In the first five phases of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, Assam’s Dhubri constituency achieved a remarkable feat by recording the highest voter turnout in the country, reaching a staggering 92.08 percent.

This unprecedented level of civic participation places Dhubri at the top of the national voter turnout rankings, showcasing the residents’ commitment to the democratic process.

Adding to this notable achievement, two other constituencies from Assam—Barpeta and Nagaon—also secured positions within the top 10 for voter turnout.

Barpeta registered an impressive 85.24 percent, while Nagaon closely followed with 84.97 percent.

The second phase on April 26 saw a turnout of 77.35 percent, and voter enthusiasm peaked in the third phase on May 7, with an impressive 81.71 percent turnout.

Dhubri and Barpeta were part of the third phase, while Nagaon participated in the second phase.

Residents of riverine areas in Dhubri navigated the Brahmaputra River by boats to reach polling stations, a testament to their determination.
