Galwan, Jan 17: At least two undisclosed incidents of clashes between Indian and Chinese troops along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) have surfaced, according to citations for gallantry awards bestowed upon Indian Army personnel.
The citations, revealed during an investiture ceremony by the Army’s Western Command, highlighted the firm response of Indian troops to aggressive actions by China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) along the LAC.
The incidents occurred between September 2021 and November 2022, with the Army maintaining a high level of combat readiness following the 2020 Galwan Valley clashes.
Despite the video being deactivated, the citations shed light on the ongoing tensions at the border.
There was no immediate response from the Army regarding the revelations. Over the past three-and-a-half years, skirmishes between Indian and Chinese troops have been reported along the LAC, especially after the border dispute in eastern Ladakh in May 2020.
The Tawang sector also witnessed attempted transgressions by Chinese troops. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh informed Parliament on December 9, 2022, that PLA troops attempted to transgress the LAC in the Yangtse area of Tawang Sector, unilaterally changing the status quo. The Indian troops contested this attempt firmly.

During the investiture ceremony, several Indian Army personnel involved in responding to the Chinese transgression were honored with gallantry awards.
The Defence Minister affirmed the Indian forces’ commitment to protecting territorial integrity and thwarting any encroachment attempts. The incidents resulted in a physical scuffle, causing injuries on both sides.
Despite the challenges, the Defence Minister expressed confidence in the unity of the House in supporting the soldiers’ brave efforts to safeguard territorial integrity.
