e-cabinet

Agartala, Sept 28: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has announced that the state has officially adopted the e-cabinet model of working in the civil secretariat, making it the fourth state in India to do so, following Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Arunachal Pradesh. In the northeastern region, Tripura is the second state to implement the paperless model, following Arunachal Pradesh.

During the announcement, Dr. Saha stated, “This is a historic moment for our state as the ambitious e-cabinet project is successfully launched here today. This project makes Tripura the fourth state in the country to go paperless in the top-most executive. For a state like us to reach such a stature is a significant achievement, and I hope we shall continue to strive with the same pace.”

He expressed his appreciation for the officials who worked hard to turn this project into a reality. Dr. Saha recalled the day when Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Tripura’s achievement in the e-office scheme on May 8, 2021, at the IT Bhavan.

He noted the project’s humble beginnings, saying, “It was a small gathering of officials where the ideas for this project were exchanged, and now, we are officially going paperless.”

Dr. Saha emphasized that digitization is the only alternative in this age of information. He explained how the government had to invest significant resources in procuring and storing physical files, but digitization will eliminate these challenges. He added, “Our efforts will have a long-lasting impact on the system. Our successors can access information as per their requirement with just a click of the computer mouse.”

The Chief Minister also highlighted the technical aspects of the digital work modules being introduced in various state departments. The adoption of the e-cabinet model is expected to streamline administrative processes, reduce paperwork, and enhance efficiency in governance.

Tripura’s move toward digitization aligns with the broader digitalization initiatives taking place across India to modernize administrative processes and make government operations more efficient and transparent.
