Guwahati, April 10: Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi, contesting from Nagaon constituency of Assam, has accused Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma of violating the model code of conduct (MCC) during the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

Bordoloi complained with the chief election commissioner, alleging that Sarma promised to transfer Rs 10,000 to the bank accounts of all ration cardholders post-election, a move deemed unethical and aimed at influencing voters.

Terming Sarma’s promises as a “clear violation” of the MCC, Bordoloi urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to thoroughly investigate the matter and take necessary action against the chief minister.

Additionally, Bordoloi filed another complaint with the chief electoral officer, accusing the BJP of continuing a controversial socio-economic survey despite a show-cause notice from the CEO.

The survey, alleged to be conducted for electoral gains under the guise of the ‘Orunodoi’ cash direct benefit transfer (DBT) scheme, has raised concerns about the misuse of government schemes for electoral purposes.

With a budget allocation of Rs 16.88 lakh, they aim to ensure uninterrupted power supply during adverse weather conditions.

According to Swapan Debbarma, General Manager Technical of TSECL, preparations for the monsoon season began in February, with comprehensive renovation initiatives underway.

Meetings with officers and engineers have paved the way for strategic planning and execution.

The allocated funds will support various renovation activities, including trimming branches near transmission lines, clearing forest areas, straightening poles, and repairing hanging wires.

To expedite the process, 400 vehicles and 1830 casual labor resources have been deployed alongside existing infrastructure.

Initiated on February 16, these renovation efforts are scheduled for completion by the end of April, ensuring that all electricity distribution-related works are concluded within the month.

Tripura Power Transmission Limited is actively engaged in pre-monsoon renovation activities, focusing on forest clearance, tree trimming, and equipment testing and repair at substations.

With progress reports indicating nearing completion of pre-monsoon renovation across all lines and substations, Tripura is gearing up to enhance its resilience against potential disruptions during the upcoming monsoon season.

It is anticipated that these efforts will be finalized by April, safeguarding the state’s electricity infrastructure and ensuring uninterrupted power supply for its residents.

Assam Rifles Successfully Foils Illegal Timber Smuggling in Kamjong District, Manipur

The confiscated timber and the drivers of the trucks were handed over to the Forest Beat Officer of Kamjong District.

Agartala, April 10: 700 undergraduate teachers from Tripura have drawn nearer the Supreme Court to record an appeal challenging the end orders issued against them in 2017 and 2020 by the state government.

The applicants charged that the orders issued were “unlawful and unconstitutional”.

The appeal recorded beneath Article 32 (Right to Protected Cures) of the Structure expressed that in 2014, the Tripura High Court announced the Business Approach issued by the state government was “bad in law”.

New Delhi, April 10: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, facing a significant setback after the Delhi High Court dismissed his plea challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the liquor policy case, has now approached the Supreme Court.

This move, just a week before the Lok Sabha elections, underscores the gravity of the situation for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor.

Kejriwal’s legal team is seeking an expedited hearing, with the case scheduled for 10:30 am today.

During Tuesday’s hearing, the Delhi High Court asserted that Kejriwal, along with others, had conspired and actively participated in utilizing the proceeds of crime, as per evidence provided by the ED.

The court further stated that Kejriwal was personally involved in formulating the now-repealed liquor policy and was implicated in seeking kickbacks.

Additionally, in his capacity as the national convenor of AAP, he was allegedly engaged in activities related to the scandal.

Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma, delivering the verdict, upheld the legality of Kejriwal’s remand, asserting that his arrest did not contravene the law.
